On July 24 2006, the latest round of global trade negotiations to expand the reach of the WTO collapsed. Talks were suspended indefinitely, and that’s good news for consumers, family farmers, and the billions of people who live in poverty all around the world. We now have the opportunity to demand a new model of trade rules that promotes safe, diverse, community-based food production and food sovereignty.
