Publicly funded and managed water systems have delivered this essential resource to a majority of people in both the U.S. and the world. Americans strongly support federal funding for water. The development of our infrastructure has led to great gains for public health and has almost always been a basic service provided by governments, not controlled by corporations. Water provision is good economic policy that offers a wide range of benefits to all people.

The Water for All Campaign principles:

• All people should have access to affordable water; for those with less income, assistance should be given to ensure they get the water they need.
• Citizens should participate in the management and oversight of their local water systems, which should be based on information sharing, education of users, and strong accountability.
• Local water systems should prioritize conservation and water quality,
• Any financial surplus made by a local water system should be reinvested in the community being served, and water facilities should share their best practices with other communities.
